WiFi Penetration Testing: Beginner to Advanced/Wireless & RF Fundamentals
Most "WiFi hacking" material online falls into one of two traps. Either it is a five minute video of someone typing against a network they clearly do not own, with none of the "why" explained. So the moment your target uses a slightly different setup, you get stuck. Or it is a university style slide deck on 802.11 that never touches a terminal at all.
aircrack-ngThis course is neither. It is built the way I would actually walk a new hire through wireless testing on their first few jobs: understand the protocol well enough to predict how it will fail, then break it, in the order attacks actually get used in the field.
If you only memorize commands, a driver quirk or a config change on the target breaks your entire toolkit. You need to understand why deauth works, why PMKID does not need a client connected, and why WPA3 closes some doors while leaving others cracked open. That understanding is what lets you adapt when the lab in front of you does not look exactly like the lab in this course.

That is not an arbitrary order for the curriculum. It roughly matches the order a real assessment moves through. You cannot write a sane scope document without understanding what "in range" even means at the radio frequency (RF) layer, the physics of how radio signals travel. You cannot decide whether it is worth cracking a handshake before you have done recon and found out whether the target is even using a pre-shared key (PSK), which just means a shared WiFi password everyone types in. And you cannot write a report a client will actually act on without understanding why the finding matters, not just that a tool spat out a password.
Every attack module follows the same shape: first what is broken and why, then the attack done in a lab, then, for the bigger modules, a knowledge check before you move on. If a lesson only gave you commands with no explanation, that would just be a list of commands, not training. So expect the "why" to show up before the "how" every time.
Unauthorized access to a wireless network is a criminal offense in most places: the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act in the US, the Computer Misuse Act in the UK, and equivalent laws almost everywhere else. "I was just testing if it was vulnerable" has never worked as a legal defense. If you do not have a signed scope document, or you do not own the hardware, do not run these techniques against it. Full stop.

If you buy exactly one thing before starting this course, make it a supported adapter. I would rather you spend an extra week sourcing the right hardware than spend three modules fighting a driver that only half works. Module 2 walks through exactly what to look for and what to avoid.
